How to get a 10-year E-Passport?

Currently, it is essential for every person to have an e-passport. This modern biometric passport is not only machine-readable but also meets international standards. If you are planning to travel abroad for a long time, especially for studies, work, or business, then it is definitely better to get a 10-year e-passport.

What does it take to get a 10-year E-Passport?

1. National Identity Card (NID)

Make sure that your NID is updated and correct. If there is any discrepancy, your application may be rejected.

2. Birth certificate (if you do not have an NID)

If you are under 18 years of age, you will need to provide a birth certificate.

3. Proof of Residence or Address (if your address changes)

This can be an electricity bill, gas bill, or a withholding tax receipt.

4. Old Passport (if you have one)

If you have a previous Machine Readable Passport (MRP), don’t forget to bring it with you.

5. Passport Size Photograph

Although your photograph will be taken online for the e-passport, it is better to have a recent photograph on hand.

• Ordinary     21 working days  -  ৳6,900
• Priority       10 working days   -  ৳8,050
• Urgent        2-3 working days -  ৳9,200

How to Apply?

• Step 1: Online Registration
  • Use the website www.epassport.gov.bd to register and create your profile.
• Step 2: Filling the Application Form
  • You will need to mention your personal details, your current address, and that you are applying for a 10-year passport.
• Step 3: Make an Appointment
  • Schedule a date to have your photograph and biometrics taken at the designated passport office.
• Step 4: Submit Documents and Fees
  • Come to the office with your printed application form, required documents, and a copy of your bank receipt, where your biometrics and photograph will also be taken.
• Step 5: Collect Passport
  • On the appointed day, you can collect your passport from the concerned office after receiving an SMS notification.
