How to apply for Driving License

Having a driving license is very important for any driver, be it professional or amateur. A driving license is a document or state recognition that you have learned to drive or can drive safely. According to the laws of Bangladesh, driving without a driving license is a punishable offense. Therefore, every driver must make a driving license and keep it with them while driving. Making a driving license is a time-consuming process, it cannot be done in a day or two. So start the process of making it at least 3 months before the need arises.

Qualifications that an applicant must have for a driving license: -

• Before getting a basic driving license, a learner driving license must be obtained to learn to drive, and the license must be kept with you.
• The applicant must be at least 18 years old if he is an amateur and at least 21 years old if he is a professional.
• The educational qualification must be at least 8th grade pass.
• The applicant must be completely healthy mentally and physically.

Driving License Preparation Process:-

The applicant will first have to apply to the circle office of the BRTA whose address falls under his/her address along with the necessary documents for a learner driving license. If his/her application is correct, he/she will be issued a learner driving license from the BRT office. Using which he/she can take driving training. After completing the training, he/she will have to take part in the written, oral and field test at the designated center at the designated time. At this time, the candidate will have to bring the original copy of his/her learner driving license and a pen to participate in the written test.

Documents required for learner's driving license:-

• A form duly filled in the prescribed form (the form can be collected from the BRTA office or downloaded from the BRTA website).
• Medical certificate from a registered doctor.
• Attested photocopy of the applicant's National ID card.
• 3 copies of stamps and 1 copy of passport size photograph.
• Prescribed fee, receipt of deposit in the designated bank of BRTA. (Do not make hand cash transactions with anyone in any way. Deposit the money directly at the bank and keep the receipt.)

After passing the written, oral, and field test, you will have to apply for a smart card driving license in a prescribed form again at the relevant BRT circle office by paying the required documents and fees. After making this application, the process of making the original license will start. And when the driving license is ready, the applicant will be informed through SMS on his mobile number. And by seeing this SMS, the applicant can understand that his license has been completed, and he can collect the original license from the BRT office in his circle on the appointed date.

Documents required for original or smart card driving license:-

• Prescribed form duly filled.
• Medical certificate by registered doctor.
• Attested photocopy of applicant's National ID card.
• Receipt of prescribed fee (Professional- 1679/-Taka and Amateur- 2542/-Taka) deposited in BRTA's designated bank.
• Police investigation report for professional driving license.
• 1 copy of recently taken passport size photograph.

To obtain professional heavy driving license, the applicant must first obtain a light driving license. Then after at least three years, he can apply for a professional medium driving license. And after at least three years of obtaining a medium driving license, he can apply for a heavy driving license.

And once you have your driving license, you can buy a car or bike of your choice and drive it yourself.
